Hey Linus Tech Tips,

Just installed my GT 1030 (did not have a graphics card installed before), however my monitor doesn't have HDMI, only VGA, so I ordered an adapter that will come on Monday.
1.) Will (https://goo.gl/efDRkM) have noticiable input lag?
2.) I'm impatient and wanted to use my PC, so I plugged in my PC and all cords, but just plugged in my monitor into the integrated/internal/whatever the original port was called that I had before instead of the graphics card (because I can't without the adapter), but the monitor doesn't register the PC as on, and shaking the mouse or pressing a key does nothing. Is this normal when a graphics card is installed where you cannot use integrated graphics?

You cannot use the iGPU with a GPU install ya, your BIOS might let you select the iGPU for output anyways for say GPU passthrough

The passive HDMI->VGA adapter should work fine, but you may not get your monitor's native resolution, it only lets my CRT go to 1280x1024 instead of 1600x1200

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?
