I am making a PC for my Dad which will be used for video streaming (netflix) and basic internet browising. I have put together a parts list below but I know the CPU is not the best. It HAS to stay at £300 or below so if there is a better quad core CPU and motherboard for that keeps it below £300, please let me know.

I'd look into getting a used Sandy Bridge machine. I've gotten a few for free, and they still do wonderful. I wouldn't buy an FX processor new.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

FX CPUs don't have integrated graphics. Why do you want a quad core for streaming Netflix and basic web browsing? Just get a G4400/G4560/G4600 and use the iGPU. It will also allow you to stream Netflix at 4K. Get a better PSU, like the Pure Power 10. If it's just a basic PC, just get a 120-250GB SSD instead of a HDD

:)

You could easily get away with 4 gb of ram, but not with having no SSD. I wouldn't go AMD either but rather A: secondhand i3 6100 (should be about 50) or B: New intel pentium G4560 or G4600 or if you really need the budget: G4400. The SSD could just be 32 gb because it's most important for booting to windows. Btw: FX-6300 doesn't have iGPU

This is way better but unfortunatly 307 pounds, but you could shave of some money of with the case and PSU.
