Hi,

I'm Mustafa, and I possess a very little knowledge about PC components and builds. However, I've managed to put together a light gaming rig (mostly 2D games or side scrollers) on a very tight budget recently, which I would also like to use for work (graphic design) in the near future. I've been using this rig for about a week now, and can't figure out what to upgrade as a quick solution to bring it to the level where I won't face any kind of lag, jitter and freeze up when I work on it. Apps that I'll be mostly using are Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro and Maxon Cinema 4D. Below is the config.

Motherboard: Gigabyte G1 Sniper B7 (1151 Socket)

Processor: Intel i5 6400 2.7Ghz (Quad-Core)

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 4 GB DDR4 (2133 Mhz) - Upgrading to 16 GB soon.

GPU: Built-In (Intel HD Graphics 530)

Storage: Seagate 320 GB 7200RPM HDD - Will add Adata 240 GB SSD soon.

OS: Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit

As can be seen, I've already thought of some changes, but my knowledge is very limited and people have been suggesting me to get a graphic card like Nvidia GTX 1060 or equivalent (which I can't afford at the moment). Your thoughts and suggestions will be appreciated.

A GPU is something you will need if you want to do a lot of graphical design (will also speed up rendering if configured correctly) or a way better CPU. which to go for I have no idea due to your strict budget.

Seeing as your budget is below that of a gtx 1060, im going to assume your budget is at around 200$ Honestly, there's not much you can do. I'd reccomend a ryzen 5 1600, but even witout a motherboard that costs around 200 and doesn't come with integrated graphics. The best thing you can do right now is add another 4 gb of ram and add an rx 570 or a gtx 1050ti.

If you have 300$ however, i'd reccomend getting a ryzen 5 1600, a b350 mobo, and a gt 1030 or rx 550.

Thank you all for the great suggestions. I can see more replies are in favor of a graphic card. Fortunately, there is a small gaming community in my area who often buy and sell PC gaming components, so I'm hoping to get a used Nvidia GTX 1050 (would like to avoid other cards since Adobe apps use Nvidia's CUDA cores), it'll cost me around $95 to $110, GTX 980 costs around $490.

Still open to more suggestions. My budget is not much at the moment, somewhere between $200 to $300. Just for the record, I can run all the apps I've mentioned in my original post, only thing is, they perform at a slower speed but I can get work done. So in my humble opinion, I think this can be tackled by upgrading the RAM to 16 GB and adding a SSD. Correct me if I'm wrong please.
