Can an External HDD replace an Internal one?

Supportsneedlove

Well, my friend is getting a new prebuilt PC with an SSD and no hardrive. (Please spare me from the "Should build your own Pc" stuff) and since removing the side panel would void the warranty it though about using an External insted. So, is it possible?

How would removing the side panel void the warranty? How would they know? Yes, an external drive would work, but not as well as an internal SATA one.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

Most OEM systems have a "warranty void if removed" sticker that sticks to the sidepanel and the rear of the case :/

So if you open the case, the sticker is broken.

If the system has usb 3.0 you should get a decent external hard drive with a usb 3.0 connection.

Not as fast as SATA but should be pretty close.

Is he renting it lol? If you buy a pc from a place that doesn’t let you take off the side panel then your getting scammed from the start.

ive never heard of any company not letting you take off the side panel. Only ones I’ve seen where the computers at the college I went to that had them.

If you want to argue with me, and you probably will please PM me, no need to ruin threads becase you dont like how I am.

He can but it would void his warranty (That's free btw) If you open it you can't prove that it wasn't you who caused the problem.

Yes, but you will likely suffer a little in speed and lag.

I know exactly what you mean.

ues you can open it but if you do it voids the warranty,

and thays dumb as every big custom Pc retailer let you open your side panel and you still get warranty. I bet they changed some of the windows files to make it look like you have more ram then it really does and little stuff like that lol.

id never trust a company that puts a sticker like that on it.

ibuypower, ironside hell even dell doesn’t do it on their gaming rigs lol they encourage you to upgrade it.

If you want to argue with me, and you probably will please PM me, no need to ruin threads becase you dont like how I am.
