Hi, my friends has a very outdated system and is looking buy a new PC, he has quite a low budget but he wants a decent PC. So i turn to you smart people to help pick, The first system has the following specs: an Nvidia 1050 with 2 GB Vram, an i5-7400 with 6 GB of DDR4 RAM and a 256GB SSD. And the second has an Nvidia 1050TI with 4 GB of Vram, an i3-7100 with 8 GB of DDR4 and a 1 TB Harddrive going 7200 RPM.

I'd recommend the first, the CPU will last him far longer and GPU is a more common upgrade. However, I'd make a few changes. I'd trade the SSD for an HDD and upgrade later on, and with the extra money change the 6 GB of RAM to a pair of high speed 8 GB

Frostbite (White build PC)

Spoiler

MSI B350M Mortar Arctic - Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 GHz - Corsair H60 - ASUS GTX 1060 3GB DUAL OC @ (2130 MHz Core Clock + 4600 MHz Mem Clock)

2x8GB 3200MHz Corsair Vengeance C16 Corsair 400C White - EVGA 650 GQ

Razer Deathadder Chroma - Razer Blackwidow Tournament Edition Chroma - Sennheiser HD 598 SR - LG 24MP59G-P

Would you be able to use an external Harddrive insted of an internal?

Honestly not sure, I'd check around the forum, since that question has probably been asked before

First thing, why must it be prebuilt?

Neither options above looks appealing since 8th gen CPUs are released and there's also Ryzen CPU. You should avoid 2c4t i3 and 4c4t i5.
