Hi!

I have been wanting to get into podcasting for awhile now and decided to inveset in some hardware, but before I spluge and buy 300-500 euro worth of tech, I want to ask you guys some questions.

1.I decided on the Blue Yeti USB, but if I have 3 people, do i need to get 3 mics or will 2 suffice.

2.If I connect the three/two into a hub, will they be a single track or multiple different tracks (audacity) ?

3.Will I need a preamp/DAC for them or is it okay to plug them directly into the hub?

Many thanks!

The Blue Yeti is USB so each mic you plug in will be a separate microphone on your PC. It will also get all the power it needs from USB. If i were you i would try 1 microphone to start because ive seen YouTube videos where 4 people use 1 microphone.

Good Luck!

Blue Yeti is infamous for causing BSOD's on windows 10 with it's realmedia USB driver. I'd not risk it.

It also has a lot of noise on the recording and it's not a dynamic mic, which means it will pick up a lot of echo and keyboard rattling.

I suggest a USB interface and a DYNAMIC microphone. It's very important it's a dynamic microphone. You'll need to be fairly close to it, but it is much less likely to pick up echo or ambient noises, as the range is so short. And get a popfilter.
