Intel i9 7900x vs the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950x I plan on gaming and streaming games high end ultra all that. So I need something with some serious power. Between these two any differences? Strengths? Weaknesses? Appreciate it!

1950X

Advantages

-64 PCIe Lanes, no limitation in using the lanes

-16 core vs 10 core (intel i9 7900X)

-Cheaper board and chip

-can be handled easier than intel's hot chip

-750W 80+ Gold PSU is pretty much enough for overclocking headroom

Drawbacks

-large cpu size (tho cooling isn't a big issue)

-you will need a quite beefy cooler that will handle 180W TDP

7900X

Advantages

-Normal CPU size

-upgradability to 18 cores 36 threads

-wider range of boards selection

Drawbacks

-at $1000 you are only getting 10 core 20 threads

-power hungry is a big issue, Big power supply wattage is needed

-only 44 PCIe lanes, which is less than the same priced AMD 1950X

-it is a hot rod 10 core monster you won't be enough with air cooling

"Make it future proof for some years at least, don't buy "only slightly better" stuff that gets outdated 1 year, that's throwing money away" @pipoawas

-Frequencies DON'T represent everything and in many cases that is true (referring to Individual CPU Clocks).

Mention me if you want to summon me sooner or later

Spoiler

My head on 2019 :

Note 10, S10, Samsung becomes Apple, Zen 2, 3700X, Renegade X lol

With the 1950x and cooling is a 360mm liquid cooling system enough? It's from origin of not sure branding and all that it's exact name is

ORIGIN FROSTBYTE 360 Sealed Liquid Cooling System for TR4 Socket

I would switch the cooler (if there is one in your place and it supports TR4) to an EK Predator 280

But with the current solution you are totally fine
