Hey, so I adquired a cheap Fat PS2, but its AV port is totally fucked up (picture), two pins are bent into the inside making anything better than composite useless. In other words, I wouldn't be able to use my little PS2HDMI converter. So I thought instead of fixing that AV port, why not mod my PS2 by why no get rid of that old AV port and replace it with an HDMI port. I mentioned I have a little PS2HDMI adapter, I'd just have to tab that those 12 pins from the original PS AV port (and those 4 pins from the USB port below to supply the adapter with power).

Sounds like a plan, but I don't have room for the converter board except for having one standing out hdmi socket, the PS2 internal power supply is in the way. Right below the optical drive there is a ton of space(picture), i could tape up the converter to, but then id have to daisy chain the HDMI output back to where the original AV port was. buuuut.... i don't really wanna solder wires to a hdmi socket, toooo many and tooo small pins. There are to be another way, like I was thinking, getting something like this in place of the AV port, and just wire up the hdmi converter to the hdmi socket in place of the av port using a flat hdmi cable or something.

I've never have done mods, so my whole idea might be just flawed, but I'm still more than welcome to hear feedback from you guys. I've tried doing a quick google to see if someone else has done this before but I couldn't find any results.

Could you? Probably, with a lot of determination.

Should you? Probably not. I'd just try repairing the AV port as it is, PS2HDMI is basically the component video signal wrapped with an HDMI port, output resolution included.

Just now, TheOtherRandomUser said:

easier said than done, i cannot even reach those two bent in pins to begin with... 59f64d7d4e17b_WhatsAppImage2017-10-29at13_49_43.jpeg.938f723a059f44c043888d27d3e251bb.jpeg

I was going to go more for "are there replacement sockets or whatever you could get?"

Unless you have experience with soldering, don´t try to do it.

I´d try to get pliers with which I could bend the pins back.  Other than that, take it to someone who knows their soldering and has the equipment to solder a new connector in place of the old one.
