Ethernet Cable Gigabit Speed Problem

Hi Guys,

I'm running into a problem making a batch of ethernet cables. I've made a few shorter cables this morning and they're all running at 1 GBPS fine, the problem is with one that I made that is about 100 ft long. I can't seem to get the 100 ft long ethernet cable to connect to my router at 1 GBPS. It's flashing amber on my router (which means it's 10/100 mbps) while the others are white (1000 mbps). I can't imagine the 100 feet length being a problem. I've double check my pinouts and redid it multiple times just in case I goofed up. I have a AC1900 R7000 Nighthawk Netgear router by the way.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Yah, and that's correct.

How about the tips, when you look at them from the front are the wires fully flush against it on all 8 wires for both ends?

Each strand is fully flush against and touching the RJ45 casing.

Have you tried plugging router port into router port?

Kind of curious at this point since everything seems to be right with the wiring.

Looks like wrong wire order to me... ok maybe my eyes just can't see the pictures right.

Should be either one of these at both ends, makes no difference which one you use, just has to be the same on both ends :

If it still won't work at 1 gbps, go in the network card's driver configuration (computer management compmgmt.msc > device manager > network adapters > advanced ) and disable Green Ethernet and other power saving modes... set the network card to highest power consumption basically. (may have to reboot for those changes to be applied by the network card)

Green Ethernet reduces network card's power consumption (by half a watt or something like that) by reducing the signal power when it transmits data, and with long cables and low quality cables (like CCA - copper clad aluminum cables) it's possible sometimes to have this function mess with the transmission and force the switch to fall down to 100mbps.

Also, on 100 mbps just 4 wires are used to transmit data (the orange and green ones) .. if somehow one of the other wires wasn't quite up to the end of the connector or there's no proper contact with those gold pins in the jack, then that could be reason why you get only 100 mbps.

Both ends into the router? That, no I haven't. I have the cable routed already into the other room already. Hindsight on my end.

I'll trim the ends and try to make it a neater and see what happens. Hopefully it's just bad wiring/crimping.

On the second pic, looks like the blue and w/grn accidentally swapped places to me... just redo that end and all should be fine.
