Ive made sure that all the front panel connectors are in the correct position, everything has power and the power supply is turned on, yet when I press the power button nothing happens. I don't have any spare parts to check for shorts. Initially it turned on for a few seconds but then cut out.

Did you try shorting the connectors on the motherboard for the power button with a screwdriver or something?

Also, what are your specs? It's helpful to give as much information as possible. Exactly what happens when you press the power button?

Did it make a noise when it turned on with the lights flickering?

Dumb question, but: is the power supply plugged into an outlet that has power?

Otherwise, it sounds like it might be a problem with the PSU. Is there a switch on the back that you can change the voltage settings with? If so, make sure that's set the to lowest number of volts

It is plugged into an outlet with power. There is an "Eco" mode switch on the power supply which is turned on

Still nothing after turning that off

I'm gonna go ahead and call it a PSU problem then.

There's a chance someone else here would know better though so wait for a second opinion...

i would word that advice a little different since we don't know wich country the OP lives in ...

if i would set my PSU to something like 120V i'd probably kill it instantly since we have 230V here in my country.
