Find one that is the right size, the right material and if it's a cloth mat the right thickness for you.

i am using the extended one from corsair with the reinforcing stitching around the edges, i am loving it

There's no need to spend ridiculous amounts on a mouse pad, take that from someone who's bought 6 or 7 $30 to $60 mouse pads over that past couple years.

 

This one is huge, has a stitched edge, comes in multiple colors, is under $10, and is no better or worse than any of the other ones I've bought.
