Would it be safe to say that this board could handle 64GB of 3000MHz memory while populating all eight slots? Why would the timings of one set of four sticks be okay, but eight sticks not be? I guess I don’t really understand the concept of memory timings.

it will work fine.

timings aren't the issue, frequency is (3000Mhz).

the memory controller has a slightly harder time handing all 8 sticks compared to just 4, but the difference is negligible, especially with relatively normal-speed 3000Mhz RAM. if you were going for 3600Mhz, then it might matter, but for 3000Mhz, you should be able to get it stable on all 8 sticks with minimal effort (5-30 mins)

If I bumped that to 3200MHz would I fare the same? That’s what’s in my system right now.

yeah, mostly the same, although it would take more tweaking to get the system stable.

maybe 15-60 mins of tweaking, depending on how exact you want to go

(if you just bump up SOC voltage and RAM voltage a bit, then it should be easier to get 3200)

The 200MHz difference probably wouldn’t change the performance that much. I’ve never screwed with voltages or anything. Most of my memory overclocking experience comes from XMP.

XMP 3000Mhz or above is unlikely to work first-try on Ryzen. you'll have to tweak it a bit

with that many sticks u gonna need to overvolt ur mem controller for stability probably btw
