Here is my issue: randomly ever 30 minutes or so, my computer will show a black screen , my monitor will go to sleep and my fans will turn off only to ramp up to max or go back to normal levels. I was having the same issue but with blue and orange screens (not BSOD) and I reinstalled drivers, BIOS flash, all the normal stuff. Yay. Now I get black screens instead of colorful ones. First of all in Event Viewer, I get a warning stating "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered" which repeats twice.

Now this error:

Faulting application name: MicrosoftEdge.exe, version: 11.0.16299.15, time stamp: 0x59cda99a

Then the Windows Manager tanks:

Then the Windows Manager Error again:

The pattern of the warning then manager error repeats about 8 times then:

Warning:

Display driver failed to start; using Microsoft Basic Display Driver instead. Check Windows Update for a newer display driver.

Error:

The previous system shutdown at 8:45:33 PM on ‎10/‎24/‎2017 was unexpected.

Critical:

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Based off of this, I would assume that Edge is to fault for my woes as seen by the first of the errors:

Faulting application name: MicrosoftEdge.exe, version: 11.0.16299.15, time stamp: 0x59cda99a
Faulting module name: Windows.UI.Xaml.dll, version: 10.0.16299.15, time stamp: 0xf6706fe0

So, a few questions.

Is Edge to blame, if so, is it fixable?

If Edge is not to blame, what is?

Has this happened to anyone else?

From the browsing I have done, there seem to be no fixes besides waiting for new updates and magically working again. If there is please let me know.

Specs are below in the first spoiler, please note that I have not been overclocking the CPU for about 1 month, far before this started. XMP is off and everything is at stock besides the SC card.

I just read about Edge using graphical acceleration, could this be the root of the problem?
