Looking For Starter HT Setup

Hello, I'm looking for a good TV for watching TV, Netflix, and using my Xbox One S. Im looking for something around 42 inches, and with a native resolution of 4k. Im also looking for a sound-bar to go with it. Max budget is 900 USD.

go to bestbuy and start browsing. find one you like , then buy it with the extended 5 year warranty because it will break a lot in those 5 years

it aint 1990 anymore

they pack 2 or 3 computer boards into a flat tv that have to process and drive and power electrically a signal to a 4k screen. it gets hot becuase theres no fan , the UI on the tv starts to artifact , and eventually it burns out the cheap power supply or the cpu fries.

tv's are built with the cheapest components to last only the warranty period. Yes , even a 900$ brand new tv can be built with very cheap parts. and due to the heat issues and cheap power supplies they break/die a lot. so get that 5 year warranty.

So would you recommend a 1080p TV instead? Less pixels = less power needed = less heat to get rid of correct?

it kinda doesn't really matter , cheaper tv = even cheaper componenets

honestly in your price range you'll just get cheap components no matter what so just get the warranty. at least you know it'll work for 5 years until you need to replace it.
