How should I go about making breadboard computers?

I've recently gotten interested in building breadboard computers, experimenting with a Zilog Z80, to be precise. How should I get started with this, and where can I buy these components at good prices?

When I built an 8080 computer on a breadboard I ended up getting most of my parts on ebay. If you can wait for shipping from china you can find 10 packs of large breadboards for around $15-20 and packs of jumpers for a few bucks for a pack of 40. Look for dupont jumper male to male. I ended up sourcing most of my chips from digikey with a few parts  like the CPU and RAM from ebay.

Hit reputable distributors like digikey, mouser, newark/farnell for parts.

I'd just get a bunch of like 74 series logic chips on craigslist. You got like a hell of a lot of different chips then which is always handy.
