Far as I can tell those programs support either Open CL or Cuda, dunno how much VRAM is going to matter to you.

If VRAM ends up mattering more snag a cheap Vega GPU in the future, with HBCC enabled you basically expand the VRAM the card can use for compute tasks, Gamers Nexus is working on that testing right now.

Hi,

I just built my animation and editing rig:

i7-7700k Overclocked to 4.8GHz

Cryorig H7

16GB Ballistix DDR4 2400

750W EVGA Silver Power Supply

Although mainly I do editing and animation on this rig, I want to buy a GPU for light gaming.

Games I will be playing:

World Of Tanks

Kerbal Space Program

Robocraft

I only have a 60HZ monitor so as long as the framerates are above 60 all the time that's fine.

All these games run fine on integrated graphics at low settings, but I want to bump up the settings a bit.

What graphics card do you guys recomend? Would a 1050 or a 1050 Ti do? Or Should I get a 1060 or 1070?

Thanks guys! :D

If it's in your budget, get a 1070. It will last you longer in the future and it's a good middle ground in the Pascal series.

What programs for editing/animating yes

open CL is AMD, Cuda is Nvidia for making those programs run some things faster.

You also didn't list a budget for the GPU.

I got about 500$CAD to drop but I would only like to get what I need and no more.

I will be using:

Cinema 4D R17

Blender

After Effects CC

Premiere Pro

(Maybe in the future) - Body Paint 3D

A 1030 would do you fine assuming you aren't trying to get real time 4k in premiere editing, I'd still go for a 1050 just cuz its a 100 bucks although the 1050ti has 4gb of vram which is twice the frame buffer of the 1050 so that's something.

That might be what it defaults to if you do not have a dedicated GPU, because it runs on opencl or CUDA depending on your card manufacturer. That being said if that is a focus of yours I would recommend 1050TI or 1060 6gb(if a 30% preformance increase is worth twice the money) version to not break the bank.

Dual fan vs single fan on a 1050ti does nothing, my HTPC has a dual fan gigabyte g1 or some thing and my buddy has a single fan from gigabyte basically the same temps and performance,

Intel's iGPU supports open CL, but probably doesn't help much since it's fairly slow.

Makes less noise mostly, if you can't fit a dual fan card, then obviously get a smaller card.

Plus the bigger heatsink means it can sit at 0db mode longer right? Most people have silent running as a feature now I think.

I said the same thing at first, the fans barely spin up even the single fan one, don't even turn on till 60C and at 30% fan speed the card never gets past70 with either and overclocks to 1950ish megahertz. I paid 60 bucks more for my dual fan card than my buddy for basically nothing, I tested everything I could think of at the time, I was used to the older days of high power cards, taught me a thing or two.
