Raid 1 questions

Ok, I'm getting ready to setup my raid 1 (as already updated in my signature) and I have a few questions. 

 

My motherboard's manual (http://www.msi.com/service/download/manual-18958.html) states that I have to hold ctrl+I during P.O.S.T. and follow a few steps to create a new raid volume. 

 

1- Creating a new Raid 1 volume will format my drives right ?

2- Do I need to create two byte-precise partitions before hand ?

3- Do both my drives need to be in Sata ports of the same gen ? (SATA 1 and 2 OR SATA3,4,5 and 6  , see manual)

4- Can I create a Raid 1 volume on a portion (partition) of the drives and a Raid 0 volume on the other portion, or is this completely absurd ?

5- Are Sata 3 cables backwards compatible ?

6- My drives aren't NAS optimized. Should I install them in different drive cages ? (my case has 2x  4 3.5'' cages)

3 They have to be on the same controller. Refer to your manual.

4 that doesnt even make sense, i dont think you fully understand raid. So no you cant.

5 yes

6 no. As long as they are solidly mounted you will be fine
