So I'm on Fedora here, and this hard drive is... Pretty bad. While reformatting this device, there are quite a lot of bad sectors. I've read that just a few is cause for concern, and this I would say is slightly more than a few. The recovery files are empty, and there's no actual data I can access so I'm just reformatting this device and erasing it. So if let's say this device has over 7 million, just throw it out?

Corsair 4000D RGB

Asus B550 Tuf Gaming II

Asus 7700XT Tuf Gaming

AMD 5600x3d

32gb 3200mhz gskil

Background - HP computer that had the blue screen. Size - 302 gb all personal data is gone. There's a 17 Gb recovery partition with nothing identified.

yeah at that size it's probably pretty bad, likely irrecoverable.

yeah Smart is going to avoid the bad sectors but the performance drop is going to be huge.... HDD are already slow i wouldn't want to have to use that....

Agreed, but I'll just use it till it dies lol. Then I'll get a 2tb drive and put partitions on it for each OS
