my friend has no wifi card in his pc and he desperately wants one. can you guys recommend a good wifi card?

You could go for a wifi adapter- through USB 2.0 if you want to have a free pci slot for a graphics card ect.

My experience with USB wifi adapters is pretty poor. They have bad heat dissipation so they can't run very fast or at least they can't run very fast for all that long.

As to the original question, Asus has some pretty nice cards. Look for something that has an antenna base that can be put on top of the computer or elsewhere so that you can have the antenna away from the wall of wifi destroying metal that your computer is made of.

I have one of those in one of my PCs. It's worked well for me so far, no dropped connections. Not sure if it has Linux drivers or not, but definitely works fine in Windows. It is also, however, a bit of overkill - there are much cheaper ones available that are probably just as good.
