a good motherboard for the 4820K ? and some questions(detailed info)

linus7

Well i was thinking for quite some time to build a new computer form the ground up
and i thought about getting getting a 4820K(for heavy editing on vegas photoshop maybe even some 3d and uses such as heavy gaming youtube streaming and so on-and since i hate switching parts every "5 seconds" and i know the 4930k is better but i just dont have the money for that )
and i found this motherboard:
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4050#

is it a good motherboard for my uses and the 4820K in general ?
is it a good overclocker?

(another option was the
Asus Sabertooth X79 but is it worth it over the gigabyte it costs a ton more here)

also i thought  to pair it with a 280x(good idea?) or should i stretch for a 290?(keep in mind i will be using 2 monitors 1080P)

unforchantly i can only get 8 gb ram with the 4820k right now(so should i downgrade for a 4770K?)

how is the difference between the 4770k and 4820k in general? i heard a lot of people saying take the 4820 over the 4770k and the opposite as well (ex: if your going with 2011 get 4930 if not 4770k - the 2011 is a better socket so get the 4820 and so on)

and a 850w will be enough for a 290 4820k overclocked and a couple of ssd and hdd ? (im kinda paranoid when it comes to psu)

The 4820K is a much better choice than a 4770K.

Get a 4770k and a good 700w PSU and use the money saved for a 290.

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't they almost the exact same?

I heard the 4770k out performs the 4820k

The 4770K just barely out performs the 4820K, but the X79 platform is sooooo much better than Z87, and the 4820K overclocks better.

Whichever way OP chooses to go, he will have one hell of a CPU :D

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't they almost the exact same?

I heard the 4770k out performs the 4820k

4770k preforms better in the most games and 4820k preforms best in the most editing stuff. saw a video on youtube when they compare the 4770k and 4820k

But 4820k is IVY based and much better OCer and if u OC it to 4.0+ ghz it will out preform 4770k in anything i think

why have you made this one then?

please if u came here to complain leave.

1. If you are going for the 2011 socket, I would go the Gigabyte one, since it is 100$+ cheaper.

2. I would not really recommend a quad processor on an 2011 socket, especially if you won't use more than 16GB RAM. The 4820k performs not that much different than the 4770k.

I would say 4770k + z87 MoBo or if you really want that 2011 socket 4930k + x79 MoBo.

However another advantage of the ivybridge-E's would be, that the lid is soldered to the actual processor, resulting in way cooler temperatures. Also the Haswell processors use crappy thermal paste, which tends to degrade after a while, resulting in continously rising temps over time.

Edit:

Main Advantages of LGA 2011 platforms(not including xeons):

  • More RAM, up to 64GB
  • Quad channel support
  • 6-core processors and general the fact of -E processors, which have their own advantages over the non -E ones
  • More PCIe slots.

Of course, if you don't really use any of this, a 2011 platform is not really worth it, since the mainboards are usually way more expensive than the 1150 ones and you have no real benefit from it.

CPU: i7-4770k (LM modded) - MB: GA-Z87X-UD3H - RAM: HyperX, 16GB 1866MHz - GPU: Palit GTX 980Ti Super - Storage: 1TB HDD + 500GB/120GB SSD (850 Evo/840) - Monitor: Predator XB271HU - PSU: 700W BeQuiet 80+ Gold

why have you made this one then?

i just explained to you : i united all of my threads into one with new and detailed info  so that people would help me properly

so if you cant give a detailed and informative answer for my questions then dont post here

thanks i was planing to oc it  and thank you for tell him to leave lol

i know i should have posted it like this from the very beginning but i learned my lesson

1. If you are going for the 2011 socket, I would go the Gigabyte one, since it is 100$+ cheaper.

2. I would not really recommend a quad processor on an 2011 socket, especially if you won't use more than 16GB RAM. The 4820k performs not that much different than the 4770k.

well i may use more then 16 in the future  and i like cores it will help in future titles correct? (since next gen consoles use more cores and so on)+all my work (edit etc)

and i really cant afford a 4930k the best i can afford is 4820k

so now it all comes down to how much the difference of 4820k compared to 4770k when it comes to editing and in general

and would i be better in the long run with a 4820k ?
