I'm going to be getting a swiftech H220 and was wondering whether to bother getting better thermal paste, I can pretty much pay anything considering how cheap most thermal paste is.

Look for some Noctua paste, and the MX-2 is also great for the price.

Stock paste is usually pretty bad, I've never used stock swiftech paste before. But I've yet to see a stock paste that performs as well as a good brand like Noctua, ICDiamond or Gelid GC Extreme are my go to.

For your first application it's really up to you if it's worth spending the extra for a few degree's difference.

Avoid CM Paste like the plague, I recently did a round up of pastes and CoolerMasters paste performed about 10 percent worse than Gelid GC Extreme and Noctua NT-H1

I switched to it and it actually performed better than article :P

So should I go for Noctua NT-H1 then?

really up to you if it's worth it or not. It can shave a few degrees off depending on how good Swiftechs paste is though

okay thanks :)

I have used this for several builds and am overall impressed with it, tbh compounds from the top manufacturers perform very very similarly but I can vouch for this one.

It's non conductive and has no long cure time, definitely a high quality compound.
