AMD FX 6300

I have the AMD FX 6300 with a h100I cooler installed so I am wondering how to turbo as people say it's on by default but it only says 3.5ghz on computer so I guess it's not activated and will I need any bios updates? MSI 970 mobo, hasn't been updated as I haven't never touched BIOS not knowing stuff about it

before you do anything frequency wise you probably want to check that your motherboard can handle it. I have an FX 6300 with motherboard i just pulled from my brother PC when i upgraded it, and the VRM is pathetic like most other AM3+ boards

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Turbo Boosting occurs when the CPU reaches a certain point or load where it has to speed up, it's entirely automatic. And yes, it is on by default, you just may not be doing anything that would need your CPU to turbo boost.
