Weird situation on a Pre-built

So I have been around computers for a very long time, and I noticed something weird today. I found an old AM2 emachines system on the nforce 430 chipset, and I called my sister and asked why she wasn't using it. She said that the mouse and keyboard just "didn't work". I was a tad bit confused, so I booted the system, and it posted, and booted into windows fine, but once I was in windows, the mouse and keyboard were completely unresponsive. I proceded to unplug the crappy keyboard and mouse, and try not only a high end corsair combo from my main computer, but also PS/2 mouse and keyboard. The LEDs on the corsair turned on, but keystrokes were not recognized by this older system. I powered off the system, and completely disassembled it, dusting out all of the connectors and stuff, to see what would happen. I then reassembled the computer and booted into the BIOS, where I the corsair keyboard was working perfectly. I exited the bios, expecting everything to work in windows, but nope. Windows still wouldn't register anything.

 

Anyone know what the heck is happening?

missing drivers for keyboard? A reinstall should take that back.

I would guess faulty drivers of some sort
