Don't invest more into Ivy Bridge. IIRC, the *820 CPUs before Broadwell-E were quad cores. Depending on what you do, the 8700K, 1700, or 7820X would be nice upgrades.

You live in Oslo, but have a budget in USD? I'd I read that right, you have a $1700 budget for the motherboard, and a $1700 budget for the GPU?

:)

Imo, the local currency is always preferred, as component pricing varies by region.

For ~13000 nok, you could get a 7820X and platform with 16/32GB RAM, if you want that.

What's your use case for the PC?

:)

Then you should just stick with what you have, unless you need more power. If it's just for gaming, the CPU is fine, and just get a 1060 6GB.

We have a bunch of consumer rights in Norway, so the store would have to replace any broken part the first 5 years after they've sold it to you.

Hard lock as in Steam completely crashes during games? Might be an unstable overclock

:)

Try running Prime95 for ~30 minutes, and monitor the temps with something. If it crashes, it'll be repeatable, and you should be able to send the PC in for repairs.

Do i just double click it and let it be for 30 mins?
