It is possible but I did it with a spare 2 pin fan.

i dont realy wanna spend money on it :L 

usb outputs at 5v so you could technically run it at lower speeds if you splice a usb cable and connect the red/black wires to the fan pins

would 2 usb cables work??

This was what i was gonna say, I done it a couple months ago when i got bored. I get bored a lot...

yes, just wire it in parallel, but that would be pretty loud. I recommend a single 5v port for low power impact and noise. Oh, and if your laptop is overheating, it is most likely going to be dust build up causing the problem. I've seen laptops run at 95 C with the heatsinks choked with dust.

 i need the fan for my 9 usb erupters and noise isnt an issue and my laptop it fine :D
