Hi,

 

I have a gsync monitor (asus PG27AQ 4k at 60fps). No issues whatsoever with Andromeda.

 

Nvidia control panel; Gsync for full screen and windowed mode, Vsync On.

 

My DOS2 settings are; full screen, 4k resolution at 60fps, frame limiter at 58 fps, vsync off.

 

Asus ROG gsync monitors have a built-in light in the stand that shines red when gsync is on. My light was red the whole time.  

 

DOS2 had no tearing whatsoever, but some stuttering when the fps wildly fluctuates between 58 and 40 in some parts of fort joy. I wanted to make sure gsync was on so I enabled the gsync indicator on the Nvidia control panel which told me gsync was indeed on in the game. But from that moment lots of tearing happened, even after I disabled the indicator, and restarted the game. To correct it, I had to enable vsync in-game, which kinda defeats the purpose of gsync. 

 

Does that game have some gsync issues, or is it just my monitor? Any tips?

Well, I cant really help you, but you can play this gane with vsycn and its just fine. Since it is slow paced, that does not matter really. I play it at 40 fps and its great, just a insane fight with tons of necrofire got me at 15 fps, where it was bad but still playable.

Thanks. I realize the issue is not so much gsync, but the sudden drops of fps. Even when I don't pan the camera, when there is no visible on-screen action, it goes from high 50s to  mid 30s. I tried various resolutions, settings, fake fullscreen and such but it keeps happening. But as you said, this is a slow-paced game, an excellent one at that, so it is just mildly annoying.

G-sync only works when the CPU is not over-taxed.  It doesn't "turn off" at high CPU load, but it's very obvious when it's not working (high cpu usages cause stuttering that G-Sync doesn't fix cos it's a different issue altogether and not a graphic pipeline issue).  It could be that your CPU is being taxed at that part of Fort Joy.

Interesting. I had in mind that gsync was magically going to solve any and all stuttering. However, my CPU is quite good, a core i7 7700. I will check for bottlenecks tomorrow.
