dual channel ram

is getting a 2 x 4 gig kit way better than 1 x 8? The 2 x 4 kit is more expensive, and I want to know if picking it up would be worth my money.

Well, a lot of benchmarks have shown that dual channel Ram is better than single, you can look the Benchmarks up, Most of the time the Dual channel wins.

It's better, unless you plan to add another 8GB in the future. If you plan to keep 8GB go 2x4 if you plan to add 8GB in the near (up to 1 year) future, go 1x8GB.
