Mid to High tier gaming. Budget is $800 but if it makes sense to spend more I would. I have $200 in accessories so I would like to keep the total at $1,000 or close to it

If you can, I would use the extra $200 for a GTX 1060 (preferably the 6GB one). And maybe some extra ram.

What's the price difference between the 1050 and 1060?

Somewhere around $100 - $150 I think. Not really sure. The 1050Ti ain't going to cut it at high tier gaming. The 1060 6GB will run about everything in high or better on some games at 1080p 60 FPS

That's quite bad for a $800 gaming build, tbh.

Try this?

ok here's the updated build with a 1060, on pcPP it is giving me this potential issue warning

  • Some Intel Z170 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Kaby Lake-S CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.

Is this ok?

Do you really want an Intel CPU? The build @seon123 posted will do great too.

If going the Intel way I would pick a Z270 motherboard. And 16GB RAM is recommended for gaming machines these days.

Will I still be able to video editing and fast casual use with the amd?

is it as powerful a processor?

What makes the AMD better than the intel? I don't know much about the AMD

The Ryzen 5 1400 is neither better nor worse than the i5 7600k, it depends entirely on the use case.

However, the R5 1400 is much better value being $65 cheaper. The mainboard that was suggested is also $35 cheaper. So that means you can save $100 here and allocate that towards a better GPU, which is exactly what you want to do for a gaming build. This will allow you to get a GTX 1060 6GB instead of the 1050ti and get better performance in games, while staying within your original budget.
