Can't factory reset my PC

Stingray321

I'm trying to factory reset my PC (Windows 10) but it keeps saying there's an error and no changes were made. I'm selling it to a mate so I need it just to have the OS installed, nothing else.

Why isn't it allowing me to reset it?

Is there an admin password?  What exactly does the error say?

"Error resetting your PC. No changes were made." That wasn't the exact message but it's basically what it said. And no there isn't an admin password.

I've already done all those things, is there really no way to reset it properly?

You've already created a restore point, a recovery drive and that didn't work either?  If so then pull the hard drive, use a SATA to USB adapter and reformat it on another computer.  Reinstall the drive and reinstall windows as new.

If you're resetting it because of an issue the best way would be to do a fresh install. Just make sure to backup your data beforehand.

I don't have the original disk so there's no way to do a fresh install

You can download the "media creation tool" from microsoft.com and make an installation disk or a bootable usb key.

From my existing Windows 10? I'll check it out, thanks
