Mechenical Hard drive recommendation to pair with at 60GB ssd

Go to solution Solved by N7_Zer0,

Drives don't need to spin-up when you're accessing it unless it spun-down (power saving mode?). You didn't mention which OS you're using but in Win7/8 there is an option to turn off HDD after a certain idle time. Change the time to "never".

SSD

that's the hardware so far no case yet working on it

My issue is in most cases when i use a 1 terabyte hard drive, there is a delay where the drive have to spin up, for date to be written to the platter, this is reduce with a 500gb hard drive, would it be recommended to purchase a 1tb or a 500gb to pair with the SSD or is there some thing that can be done to improve the mechanical drive spin up of the 1 tb drive?

Thanks in advance.

these are the drives i'm considering to purchase.

500gb

Get a WD Green (performance is normal... it's much better than it used to be) and cache it with a 60GB SSD.
I felt zero performance increase when I used a WD Black despite it's higher price tag so yeah...

My main concern is is the drive spin up from idle for a 1 TB drive vs a 500 GB drive
