Then I would say go for asa option.

I've got a Cisco 2811 router collecting dust, I was thinking. Do you guys recommend i use it as firewall/VPN or shall I get myself a Cisco ASA 5505?

Wouldn't really recommend it other than practicing but hell... Yeah go get an asa for the fun of it..

I still need to setup my asa 5510 again just for fun...

I'm going to put a link to my PC specs which actually aren't my PC specs and I cry myself to sleep everyday so I can have these PC specs but I can't afford these PC specs so PC specs PC specs PC specs PC specs PC specs PC specs.

I was assuming you'd be setting up an asa/2811 for practicing/experience. If Pfsense does what you need then don't see a reason to change, just play around with openvpn?

Only reason I had an asa was for site to site vpn so a friend and I could merge our labs together + studying. Are you actually looking for a vpn solution to implement or just doing it for the giggles?

I've got a domain network. I'm currently hosting websites. I've got my CCNA and CCNP already. I was using it for lab work. I'm currently using a Raspberry Pi 3 as my VPN server.

If its just R&S then you wouldn't of been exposed much to vpn configuration on asa's without experience or looking into it yourself, why don't you get a 5505 then to play around with? Would have much better throughput than a pi xD

the R&S track doesn't cover any asa configuration, so if you have had little experience configuring ASA's then I am saying get an ASA and have fun!

For CCNA security we did learn about ASA. How to configure it. :P:D
