Its a bit more complicated than that.

 

You have to setup your server as a DNS server, not just install it but actually make it a DNS server then your PC has to have its IP set so that it is using the server as its DNS.

 

Then it will join the domain.

DNS is already installed when you installed AD. Go the the client machine, under DNS servers enter the IP of the your DC.
