Overclocking i5 6600k, possible VCore Limit?

I have the z170 msi gaming m5. In the UEFI I can not put the voltage going to the processor above 1.36V, even though it explicitly says that the max is 1.5. Whenever I punch in any number above this I notice two things : The number becomes red instead of white, and the "adaptive" voltage setting doesn't come up above 1.36. Do I just need to take off the adaptive voltage setting? If so, what will change?

You don't need that high of a Voltage my I5-6600k is running on 4.5GHz at 1.312V

Here's a picture of CPU-Z

Spoiler

Though keep in mind this still could be lowered but the temps don't get too high so whatever.

Mines running at 4.6 ghZ, I was just trying to push it further.

Well i think you can go higher by unlocking something in the UEFI but it's not really worth it.

Intel says that the max safe Voltage is 1.38 so there's probably a cap there by default.

People say here that above 1.4V your CPU will start deteriorating faster and that there's not much of a difference in performance.

Where do you find intel's "safe" voltages?

1.4v is fine for skylake. Ran my g3258 which was Haswell at 1.4v for ages and it was fine.

Rig Specs:

Doesn't really seem to point me in any sort of explicit direction.. just more user experience. Although this is important, it isn't going too dictate my voltage any more than what I already know. (Highest frequency at lowest voltage)

I'm not worried about it actually being too much, I'm just confused at the issue I'm facing in my UEFI.

set it to fixed instead of adaptive.
