Hi Guys,
Looking to replace the rental from comcast (DPC 3939) so I'm not paying for something I'm starting to have issues with. I've had comcast for at least 7 straight years now (13 years off and on) and if i had gotten something earlier it would have paid for itself by now.
From what I've read its better to get seperate modem and router, instead if the gateway. I have a 24 port switch. My house is 1400 sq. ft. I think, not counting the basement. My network board is in a central spot in the basement, right up to the basement ceiling. I've only recent started to have slow wireless at times.

How are these selections?

Modem

The SB6190 and the Nighthawk are probably the best combo IMO.

For the record the SB6190 got Arris sued. Because the modem has serious issue, due to Intel's Puma 6 chip used in it. Check out DSLreports.com for more info. But you should NOT go with that modem. Too many people have reported problems, Comcast and Arris seem not to care. Ive seen told the Netgear CM600 is good, or if you want over kill, check out the new Docsis 3.1 modems, they should last a lot longer due to the fact they will support the fastest speeds Comcast may be offering or will be offering in the future.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Interesting, never had an issue with mine but good to know and might explain a few things I've ignored as they haven't been terribly annoying but always had me scratching my head :)

In that case, I would suggest maybe the SB8200

Been following the issues for the past year. They have been promising a firmware update that should "Fix" it, but many believe is more a hardware issue then software. To my understanding no firmware has been released. So now Arris has a class action Lawsuit against them for this mess up. Im glad Im still using my good old trusty Motorola SB6141, has yet to let me down. Though its old as fuck and you cant get Comcast to provision it past 200Mbps.

Thanks for the replies. I'll just stick to netgear then.

Is it really bad to have rhe modem and router in one package or did i hear wrong?

Could i just get something like this and call it good?
