Hey! I'm sorting out the list that I want for Christmas and I'm planning on doing a Ryzen build, although I'm not sure what memory to buy.

I settled on this but I don't know if it will work well with the new Ryzen platform. If anyone can just clarify if it will or not I'd be really grateful!

Thanks.

CPU: Intel Core i7 8700

GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070

MOBO: ASUS Z370-F STRIX

RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2133MHz

Why not Coffee lake?  That RAM isn't Ryzen approved so you probably wont get the full 3000mhz out of it. It seems only the best of the best RAM runs properly on Ryzen.

Oh, yea! derp. Would you mind setting out a build for me? Not really sure on this new platform. The maximum I want my parents to spend (I want them to save where ever possible) is about £400 - £450 on the build.

I do lots of gaming, video editing, recording and live streaming so this new platform will be really helpful!

I'm not too interested in overclocking (cooling isn't great)

I only need about 8GB RAM (I have 12GB currently (one stick failed) and I don't even use 60% of that)

I currently own a 4th gen i5 on a Z97 board. Will my cooler fit the socket of these new CPUs?

Thanks

Wait till the H370 or B370 boards are out and get the I5-8400 with 16 gb 2666 mem

Let's agree to disagree

Ryzen isn't for those who don't know how to build and troubleshoot their own systems. Unfortunately, in my opinion, Ryzen boards were rushed and things often don't work out-of-the-box like they tend to with Intel based systems. If you're uncomfortable with bios updates, manually entering ram timings and messing with voltages in the bios.. go with Coffee Lake
