Noob builder

No_Not_Me

Hello everybody,

New to the PC world but the past few weeks I have been doing as best research as I can to build a computer. This is my parts list and as far as I can tell it would all work out ok. It's a lot of money for me and I know I could cut some corners and get a cheaper motherboard, an i3 cpu and such which would maybe get me enough to spend on a 1070 and not a 1060, but idk. Like I said I am kinda a noob in this stuff, I have learned a lot this past two weeks but I have no experience.

They don't have the new generation intel, 370 boards or the case I wanted on pcparpicker so I choose items around the same price point.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bg4gvV

I would get the new i5-8400

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117824

Here is the board - ASUS ROG Strix Z370-E

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813119033

NZXT 340 elite case - probably white

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LZ3BJ5U/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza?th=1

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Idk why I couldn't find them...the struggle.:(

The overclocked edition of i3 is only 10 cheaper but I was looking at the 8100 which is only 117. I have no idea on how to manage overclocked hardware or even if I would have to... I know it performs better if you can cool it properly but doesn't it need management? Getting an i3 and 1060 would save me quite a bit of money at this time. I am not sure how much I can actually go above 900, whatever I spend over that will go on my card and I am trying not to do that... but it's so hard not to splurge money for better hardware.

Thanks guys!

If you are getting a 1060, yeah just go for the 8100.

Overclocking is really easy with modern platforms, up the voltage a bit (not too much) and up the clocks, and make the clocks as high as possible with a low as possible voltage while maintaining stability.
