Need to identify this cable, Please

Go to solution Solved by Matsy,

Thanks for the help btw, and I found a pic of it hold on i'll link, the guy is asking if it goes to the big side case fan ( remember though this runs to the control area on front of the case )

http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?p=566442

That looks like a fan extension to me, you plug this plug http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/rr75/T800mc/60342fc3_vbattach127330.jpeg) into it.

EDIT: doh...i'm silly, yes those are fan headers, you plug your fan's into them so you can control them with the fan controller.

You should have a couple more of them? though, maybe they are already plugged in, check your front fan wire it should have one connected to it.

I have the 500 r corsair case. The cables running from the front control are usb 3 ( hooked up ), front panel header connectors ( hooked up ), 1394 cable ( not sure I need this ), a 4 pin molex for case fans ( hooked up ), and another 3 pin connector but I have no idea what this goes to. Is this for the power button?

Is it for the fan controller? (If it has one)

That's what I was thinking, but my mother board doesn't have one. Fan speed is regulated from the case. I'm at a loss lol and about to boot for the first time

That's the molex.

The only cables on this case are:

USB 3.0

HD audio

Firewire

front panel led/power etc

Molex for fan controller

Confirmed and hooked up, USB, Audio, Panel connectors, Molex straight to PSU, 1394, and then there's one more.

Firewire.

I don't think so, that one is denoted this one isn't and it's ran seperate from everything else

EDIT- isn't firewire the cable that says 1394?

Tbh, I don't know...if its the firewire connector, it was the only one left so I a summed it was that one....

What shape is the 3pin you have spare? it shouldn't be there if it's not the audio or the firewire

Yes, IEEE 1394 is a standard of data transfer, better known by the trademarked name FireWire, among others.

It's got 3 pins, and catch on top middle and it looks like a male end. It's pretty small, it's not shaped to fit on the motherboard.

Thank you soo much! Time to boot, wish me luck. I had a hell of a time getting my 212 evo on and I hope its seated properly and that the system recognizes everything. Thanks again :)
