If you have like crazy amounts of money to spend go with a Xeon E5-2687w v2

It's the highest end processor there is for consumers at the moment and is also an eight core :D.

Seriously,get a 3930k/4930k.I am running it as a domain controller and everything is fine.

If all you need is more cores,the Atom C2750D4I asrock motherboard.

Just grab a 3930K from newegg,more than enough.A 3930K have higher clock speeds so it will perform similarly to 2640v2 in multithreaded applications and faster than 2640v2 in single threaded applications.

Alternatively get a 4930K to upgrade your current machine and throw the 3930k into the server.

If you are going dual socket,then get a E5-2650v2 at least.
