I'm new to mining

So I just got my new pc built yesterday.

I decided look and see what mining is ( as of yesterday I knew ABSOLUTLY nothing) so I read on the forums a bit and have a general idea of what it is ( I still know basically nothing) so I am curious as to how much I could make lite coin mining or bitcoin mining with a r9 290.

In a guild or pool or whatever because it's basically impossible to do this by yourself so I have heard. Just a little insight would be nice.

Bitcoin mining with anything except for ASICS is pointless at this point, Litecoin mining however is still definately worthwhile.

I agree litecoin is nice for us GPU miners . some super basic instructions are download guiminer -scrypt and join a pool i reccommend http://wemineltc.com
