Which processor?

Does it happen in all games?

"I'm so glad you're my partner in crime."

"It's the power of best friendship, I know how you roll."

"Chloe, my powers might not last."

"Ready for the mosh pit, shaka brah?"

"Yes, we'd be tearing up the highway. And you'd probably want me to kiss you again..."

"I always wanted my life to be special... an adventure... but not without you."

"Because we're back in action again!"

"With great power comes great bullshit."

"Max you are not crazy. You are not dreaming. It’s time to be an everyday hero."

"I wish I could stay in this moment forever. I guess I actually can now, but then it wouldn’t be a moment."

"If that tornado came right now, I would just sit here and watch for a while."

"You're right. We hella deserve this. Splish splash."

"Can we build another pirate fort and keep the world out?"

"When a door closes, a window opens... Or, something like that."

"Listen, whatever happens, I want you to be strong. Even if you feel like I wasn't there for you because I will never abandon you Chloe. I'll always have your back. Always."

What Game? What settings?

If your GPU is not running at 100%, and you do NOT have fps-limiter ac tive like V-Sync, your GPU is beeing bottlenecked. Maybe by the CPU (depends on the Game and Settings), maybe the Vram (because it's full).

Set Textures to LOW (or at least 1-2 steps down), so Vram is NOT full. Do the problems vanish? If yes, your setting was simply too Vram-heavy for this Card.

Problems still there? Your CPU is most likely the Bottleneck.

Let MSI Afterburner run in the background while you game and have these Problems. Upload the Log file please. That gives us all the information we need. ^^

Use lower settings then. This isnt the most powerful hardware so settings to high can kill the frame rates.

Mostly COD WWII and GTA V(25-70fps), sometimes Rocket league. GTA V GPU is not 100% but it is going up and down (higher usage more fps, lower usage lower fps ONLY IN GTA), but in gta vram usage can be 2gb and 1,5gb(lower settings) and fps is same. Vsync is off. CPU is not 100%.

CPU doesn't need to be at 100% in order to be a hard bottleneck :)

That's a 8 core CPU, maybe the Game only uses up 2-3 Cores really hard, and that's where the Bottleneck is. FX 8xxx has a crappy IPC --> Bottleneck. It jsut can't keep up.

Example: Run Prime95, a multithread CPU Benchmark.

But only use 1 single Thread!

And then open Task manager. You wno't see 1 Thread at 100%, and 7 at 0.  You will see all 8 Threads at like 13-20% only. Windows also shedules it as it pleases :P

None of the Cores has more than 20% usage, yet what you see here in Prime95, is a hard CPU Bottleneck.

GTA5 is quite CPU heavy. Many objects, and DX11 (which demands much of a single Core).

Lower Textures with only 1.5 - 2gb Vram usage do NOT change your fps --> Your GPU Vram is not the issue.

Try reducing Graphic settings. If you play on High, go down to medium. Or simply set everything to the lowest. Do your fps go up? If they don't go up by alot, The CPU is bottlenecking.

However, there can be settings, that only affect CPU demand. Such as shadow draw, Distance draw for objects shown, etc etc.

Probably because the 1050 is strong enough, for the CPU to get fps drops.

I guess, with the 1050 he has much higher average fps, but still drops?

Example, he has 60 fps, btu drops to 25.

The R7 240 only delivers 20 fps, so there are no drops because its below the point, the fps would drop to.

Edit: Did he uninstall the AMD driver before? I would suggest using DDU, removing AMD + Nvidia driver remainings, reboot, and reinstall the Driver. Might already fix it.

Thanks for help! I noticed that I wrote gtx 1050 TI but he has gtx 1050. He will try to reinstall Windows 10 and maybe fps will be stable. In GTA V on r7 240 he had 30fps and on gtx 1050 drops were below 30fps. When graphic settings are the lowest fps is same but he still has fps drops worser than on r7 240.
