Help with future build?

So recently, I've aquired a GTX 1060 6GB GPU. I don't have a desktop PC or any parts (yet) but I've always wanted to start building one myself. My friend just told me to buy a pre-built with a decent processor and stick the GPU inside and I should be fine, but I wanted to experience building a PC myself.

 

All I have is the GPU and a Razer DeathAdder mouse. Was wondering, what would go well with my build? I don't need the most powerful CPU, but want it good enough to let the GPU work at it's best without killing itself. My budget is $750. I live in Hawaii, so mostly looking for new parts from well-established retailers, not someone's old CPU from their dusty Dell tower. I'm not into RGB lighting or anything flashy like that because my PC is next to my bed and I have sleep problems already. I don't need a rave lightshow when i'm trying to sleep.

Yeah, I only have my laptop keyboard and this old piece of crap made from dell. Pretty sold on the Razer Blackwidow though.

So far my ideas:

-Blackwidow keyboard

-Cheaper 144hz 1080p IPS monitor (I am not competitive enough to care about TN panels and quick response times) 

-CPU, not sure yet. Not really knowledgeable with CPUs and their performance to value ratio.

-Already have GPU

-Air cooling. I don't want to deal with water. 

-Any MOBO that supports my CPU and that isn't total crap

-16GB ram

Ryzen would be the way I'd go. You can get a mid-range Ryzen 5 and a decent motherboard that will go well with that card. Do not buy a prebuilt system. They are built with bottom of the barrel parts and subpar cable management. The PSUs in those systems are also almost always proprietary too, so upgrading is a chore.

Yeah, I've had experience with that. I was hired by people in my grandpa's neighborhood to install people's computers and TVs and stuff (because he recommended me to his country club or something) Working with cheap BestBuy computers wasn't fun. Removing viruses wasn't fun either. 

 

But made close to $500 that summer.

My laptop is 8 and I find it limiting. I tend to have a lot of things opened and running at once. I'd be okay to start at 8 with the option to upgrade later though.

16GB is the bare minimum anyone should be running in a gaming machine at this point in my opinion. You can saturate 8GB fairly easy with a lot of modern titles.

I have a 120gb ssd from a friend. I can use that for the OS and some games, then use the HDD for everything else
