I am building my first pc tommorow and i was wondering when i build it do i have to do any test's (what are they) thanks

Well since you weren't super specific I'll tell you everything that should be tested.

First before opening or touching any parts, inspect the boxes, note any damages, and return if the package is harmed.

Second open the packages inspect the products, any damages, return,

Third, power test peripherals on other setups to make sure it works. if not return.

Fourth, test each part of the build, make sure when you test you use a different PSU and hotwire it. (easy to do, just look it up, all u need is a paperclip)

Fifth if youre watercooling, when you test your pump DONT TRY TEST IT.

Sixth, test only the necessary fans first before adding excess ones to make it easier to figure out whats working and what isnt.

Seventh, dont forget to RMA any parts right away or if there's damage to packaging, some companies dont return once its been opened.

THis is all i can think of off the top of my head, hope it was helpful.

Edit: Oh yeah and there's a crap ton of software tests you can run as well, which I'm sure everyone else will mention, and linus uses in his build log videos.

You can run things like Prime95 if you want...Or you just dive right in and hope it all works... :D

I just dove right in. I didnt want to mess with prime95. imo its pointless but since linus says otherwise no one will agree. But ya, nothing is NEEDED per say but you can if you want.

AIDA64 for a couple hours by stressing cpu, fpu, cache and memory to test cpu, Heaven Benchmark /game for a couple of hours to test gpu, and use LinX and select the maximum memory and run that for 10 passes.
