Note 8 Always on Display problem

Hi all,

I just got a Note 8 and my dad got an S8+.

With the same settings, on my phone the AoD consumes ~6-10% of battery in just a few hours of uptime and on his phone it's negligible, not even shown on the battery data screen. Why is that and how can I fix this? Aren't the two phones supposed to be similar in battery draw and the Note 8 actually outperforming the S8+ in this regard even with a smaller battery? And even if the Note 8 has a higher consumption by default, why does the AoD, which is the same on the S8+ on _almost_ the same display, consumes more on my device than on his?

Thanks in advance for your ideas!

What is AoD?

The Note 8/S8+ uses either the Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8895

Always on Display

It's an alright feature but I don't use it myself.

@OP Lemme see if I can find some screenshots where I point to where the AoD settings are.

@lionetm Right, so what you'll do is go into settings and where you see the search icon type Always On Display or it might be under display settings, I don't exactly remember and too lazy to go back and check.

Also I take issue with that statement.

The Note8 and S8/S8+ all use the Snapdragon 835 in NA and in some other markets. Exynos 8895 in Global markets

Actually surprisingly for Verizon is that my S8+ is a G955U model, I bought it at Best Buy. My guess is that Verizon has a modified version of the G955U (the long full model name) for markets that support their LTE-A (LTE Advanced) and then uses the G955V for markets that don't support LTE-A?

My phone is in Hungarian so a screenshot wouldn't help you a lot, but I don't have anything extra set up. It's scheduled to be on from 6 AM to midnight  (so it's off for 6 hours), and I use the basic clock + notifications template. Nothing more.
