And why does it have to be an AMD system?

I don't know where you live but here in germany you can still get a Phenom II 965 BE for aroun 80 bucks, pair that with something like a 7770 (100 bucks) and you should be fine. Though I am sure it is not the "cheapest possible" because that is always hard to find...

Do you have some components already from an older pc that you can use? (power supply, ram, case etc.)

Ok it's kinda hard for me to actually give a advice about specific parts because I don't know if they will be available to you or not, also because prices might be very different. But generally speaking, get a low priced amd quadcore and an entry level gpu, rest of the components really just has to work around them and have to be compared in price (with ram for example, there is only a very small difference in price between 1333Mhz and 1600Mhz here in germany). So keep an eye out for good deals^^

Important is not to cheap out on the power-supply though, or else your new computer might get toasted :(

Well, hopefully you power supply will last, but I'd recommend getting one from a well-known brand. I personally know a guy who lost his MB and CPU because his extremely cheap PSU decided to go BOOM on him^^ That's a mistake you won't make twice :D

Also yeah I would replace the graphics card if possible.

Hi, I'm from Malaysia too. You can get most of the well known brand products such as CM, Corsair and so on without much problem. Just go to Lowyat and do a little bit of searching around the building and you'll get most of the things you need.

And I don't really trust iCute since the only ones I know of came with cases. They make decent cases but I would rely on their psu. Get a 500W or higher PSU if possible so you have room for upgrades in the future. I got a CM psu and it has never failed me since day 1. It'll be a good investment.

It would be much easier to answer questions like this if you would state your budget for the build. A mid range rig might mean different things for different people.

But at that resolution I'd most likely go with a 4-core piledriver and a HD7770 to keep it very cheap and still moderately powerful for gaming. As for other details and confirmation on all the parts actually we really do need the budget.
