Swapping GPU's, wut do

applications you were using to monitor temperatures or overclocked of the card.

wat? Why?

As of the drivers, i've swapped around multiple times without uninstalling them but many people have had problems so you should uninstall them to be on the safe side. (If you don't it won't damage the card or anything, it just can cause a huge performance decrease or the card not being detected right)

Unless I'm having a brain fast because it's 2AM, wouldn't it be best to go with the software that comes with your graphics card? I.e. they're switching from XFX to Gigabyte?

EDIT: Yes it was a brain fart: I meant to say INSTALL, not uninstall software, sorry to mislead you OP/ @FloRolf

I'm using both EVGA Precision X and MSI Afterburner to OC and measure my Asus Graphics card. They all work fine with all cards. Even AMD and Nvidia.

DDU & uninstall drivers before taking out the old GPU

If you don't know what this is, DDU stands for Display Driver Uninstaller, and is the ubiquitous way to uninstall GPU drivers.

You can download DDU here: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html , and I’d recommend using the “Clean and Shut Down” option.

Once this is done, you can download new drivers when your new GPU is in by clicking on the links below, and selecting your hardware.

Nvidia: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx

AMD: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
