Network problems..

T_bone

Okay so I recently got fiber, Wifi is working good, and the router works just fine with "pre-made" ethernet cables. But I dragged an ethernet cable trough-out my house, and installed an RJ45 modular plug on both ends of that cable, on going into my computer and one going into the router, after I did that the router didn't react to an ethernet cable being plugged in, so I dragged out my network tester (see pictures) and the "remote" blinked from 8 - 1 while the "master" blinked from 1 - 8. And as you see in the pictures the cables should be wired good, the one with the black backdrop is the one I plugged into my pc, and the one with the brown backdrop is the one going into my router. Please help. (btw first time doing any kind of networking so.)59c7ba329bd44_Bilde24_09.201715_50_15.thumb.jpg.e76e3c73b78c47cb5441488e67047864.jpg59c7ba396d7bd_Bilde24_09.201715_48_00.thumb.jpg.9d5778c0e8beee8f3d313afaf62d4123.jpg59c7ba3f4117e_Bilde24_09.201714_30_51.thumb.jpg.873bde438655d60885d4795107ea5ae7.jpg59c7ba2862a84_Bilde24_09.201715_50_46.thumb.jpg.d26e08aa5c27406020928a6a015b430f.jpg

Your cables are wired completely opposite on each end. So pin 1 on one end is pin 8 on the other end. It should be 1 to 1.

Cut one end off and wire it the same as the other end.

I would actually advise cutting off both ends and using a standard wiring layout and stick with it so you don't have to keep checking the other end of the cable if you ever need to re-wire. It's generally accepted that T-568B is the one to use. You'll find the majority of pre-made cables use that.

EDIT: Also, that T-568B wiring diagram is the connector with the clip facing down. I imagine you probably wired one end with the clip up and the other with the clip down, hence the completely flipped wires.

You are correct but, cutting both side will be mandatory to get max speed. If the twisted pairs need to match or they will introduce many problems.

You should watch a few vids on youtube to get the hang of it, 568B is the standard used generally and after a few times of doing it you won't even have to really think about it again, if you remember that the colours go orange green blue brown and the white/colour mix goes first... then all you have to remember is the pure green and pure blue cables are swapped.

Also the outer sheath should go into the RJ45 so it gets crimped down, some people even add a little hotglue at the end after crimping, but personally don't see the point in that.

Please quote my post, or put @paddy-stone if you want me to respond to you.
