Little project

So, I picked up this PC for 5$. It only contained a dead motherboard, an old but decent case, a Corsair CX430. Good deal, nonetheless. I decided that I would start a little project. I could potentially do a lot of things. I kind of want a build a PC that primarily sounds cool and looks cool, because I already have a gaming PC and I will be building a 4000$ PC sometime soon. So, I would like ideas on what to do with this system. Maybe a secondary PC. I don't really want to spend more than 120$ per part, as I will be buying one part every two weeks.

 

Any ideas?

Start with the CPU. Maybe a Ryzen 3?

save up a month and see if you can get an i3 8100, H310 board and 8gb of ram. then get a gtx 1050/ti 2 weeks later or save up some more for a gtx 1060..

NAS? Buy some cheap CPU/Mobo(and maybe RAM) combo. Make sure to grab a CPU with an iGPU. Use the case and PSU you have and then you're ready to go, just need to get storage for the NAS. No point going Ryzen or even i3, and especially no reason to get a GTX 1050Ti/1060 since you said you've already got a gaming system anyway.

If you do streaming, a stream box to offload the main PC.

I don't do any streaming because I know my I5-7500 would be put under considerable strain.
