so ive been playing overwatch for a good 4 days or so..

and i get 150+ fps in everyday and everygame,

but today i woke up.. turned my pc on and wanted to game as usual..

but i started getting 60-70 fps even on the same maps, didnt change any settings, and didnt change gpu settings either.

i even have my gpu overclocked and the gpu usage isnt even maxed out.. so it makes no sense,

my gpu is a GTX 1060 G1 Gaming by gigabyte (6GB).

please help me out, as i really need the extra frames..

and i tried removing the overclock on my gpu, but it still gave me 60-70 fps..

Turn off the PC, shut off the PSU. Wait for 5 minutes and start it up again if that doesn't help, clearing CMOS is another thing you could try.

do i need to wait like exactly 5 minutes? like.. will doing it like 6 or 4 minutes not cold boot the pc?

You need to do it long enough to drain any reservoir capacitors in the PSU so the system is entirely un-powered and definitely reset

Yes, the idea of power cycling is to cold boot the PC so that the machine will be completely reset (not the BIOS but the power stuff) so any errors in it will go away. A cold boot is just booting after the PC was turned off or unpowered.

it didnt work.. sadly.. my cpu is the ryzen 1700 and not overclocked

In this case, if neither of those options worked, I'd consider looking at the OS or maybe there is some kind of virus. Do the drivers show any kind of error or issues in the control panel?

Yours faithfully

All Drives are working properly.".

If that does not work, try a programme called DDU to remove the drivers and then reinstall them. Also what is your CPU and is it overclocked too?

ddu brings up a notification about me booting into safe mode or something, what do i do?

Gigabyte's software is NOT a driver. It's bloatware and it was likely what was causing the problem to begin with. You have to install the driver located on Nvidia's website. And remove Gigabyte's garbage

ill try.. thank you... cuz even after DDU, i still get 60-80/70 fps

Currently you're using the Microsoft basic display adaptor drivers. You'll need to download the correct driver off Nvidia's website. Also Gibabytes software blows massively, of all the software, it's probably the worse from a GPU AIB maker.

This doesn't really mean anything. There could have been an unknown setting changed in the BIOS or some part of it broke that doesn't show up. It's still one of the first things to do when there is a performance change.

Safe mode is part of windows, it boots and loads the OS without any drivers, using only the basic windows ones. It's easier to uninstall a driver when it's not being used.
