I got video files off my camera and transferred it to my computer, I imported it into Premiere Pro as an MOV file with the h264 codec. It displayed okay and the video actually played on the source window when I double clicked on the file. I then proceeded to place one of my files on the timeline which up to that point was okay. I then dragged a second video file onto the timeline and all that appeared was an audio file. no video even though everything else was fine. I've tried converting the source files to the majority of common codecs such as MPEG4 and YUV raw, all to no avail.

I've also tried installing different versions of QuickTime and also rebooted my PC several times. Every time I start up Premiere Pro it says something about initialising QuickTimeimport so I'm assuming its all up and working fine. I can't seem to find the cause of the issue at all.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

To my (untrained) eyes everything looks totally normal...

QT container

AVC Video

PCM Audio

I have no idea why Premiere would refuse to work with it. It must be down to some configuration options in software, either that or you've got damaged codecs.

1) Try install K Lite Codec Pack, this will install codecs for EVERY available audio & video file type in existence. It will also tell you of any broken codecs and try to fix/replace them where possible. As it installs the codecs into Windows they become available for any app that needs them and if it's a codec issue this will solve it.

2) Try a free alternative to Premiere and see if you have the same issue. Openshot is a great free alternative, it's not as feature packed as premiere but its fine for most people. If Openshot has the same issue as Premiere then it has to be your files that are broken.

Seemed that way, so I'm reinstalling Premiere right now and hoping whatever is broken gets fixed. If not then I'll do what you recommended.

Thank you!
