It is still disabled with the Gold Master. It will be added back in later along with iMessage ApplePay.

But full iOS 11 is out. Can i update to that instead?

Totally unrelated, sorry. But I might be upgrading from my 4 to a SE in a few months. Can I expect my iMessage messages to transfer over? Currently running iOS 7.

If you have iCloud set up and functional, your messages should be backed up.

Kk. Because I don't see them on my iPad (iOS 8) and both have iMessage activated with the same Apple ID.

iMessages between devices is still kind of wonky, I have a 5S on IOS 10.2 and an iPad on IOS 8 and not all of them transfer over. I would still check someplace like an apply forum or make a thread on here, I'm certainly no expert in this field xD
